Alexis

Raised in Kempsey, Alexis & her mother would house-sit the farms and townhouses while people took extended holidays. From a young age, this meant looking after a range of animals from cats and dogs to Alpacas.
Alexis puts the start of her animal adventures, in a career sense, down to a little mouse called ShyGuy. Unfortunately, ShyGuy came down with pneumonia and was treated by Dr Mark and Dr Daisy at Sugarloaf Animal Hospital. After learning how to treat and care for such a small creature, it inspired her to follow this into Wildlife rescue. Now Alexis specialises in raising orphaned an injured Possums and Gliders for Hunter Wildlife Rescue and goes to Schools to educate children on how to help our Wildlife. Years on, she has come full circle in becoming a receptionist at Sugarloaf Animal Hospital.
Alexis also worked on reception at the Hunter Wetlands and doing the reptile shows. Her favourite animal to show was Kenny the Children’s Python.
When Alexis isn’t working with animals, she enjoys singing and playing music. She also loves celebrations, especially Christmas.
Alexis and her partner own a rescue ginger cat called Fred, who is VERY cheeky, 2 rats, a blue tongue and welcomes various foster dogs into their home. Also, whichever Native animals she has in care at the time, which are of course kept separate from her rowdy pet crew.
