Telesha

Telesha has been an animal lover for as long as she can remember. Growing up, her passion was indulged with a large extended pet family, which included a pony, dogs, cats, chickens, birds, fish and sheep. Knowing that she wanted to pursue work in the animal industry, at the completion of High School, Telesha attended Charles Sturt University, where she completed a Bachelor of Animal Science, gaining knowledge, skills and friends along the way.
She particularly enjoyed learning about anatomy, physiology and pharmacology. Throughout her degree she did a number of student placements and residential schools taking her to Adelaide Zoo, The Australian Reptile Park and Oakvale Wildlife Park amongst others, where she got an insight into how these establishments operated and met some cool and cuddly animals along the way!
Telesha loved living in Wagga Wagga while at university, but moved back to Newcastle to be closer to family. She undertook a post-graduate Diploma in Environmental Management (Conservation), where she fostered a love for our native wildlife. She found her passion for birds whilst on a three-week ecology trip in the Sturt National Park. Telesha is now an avid birdwatcher, who loves nothing more than to snap a few photos of our native birdlife in their natural habitat.
Telesha has worked at a number of animal establishments. After her post-graduate degree, she spent a few years at the RSPCA, working with the shelter and veterinary hospital teams with strays and surrendered animals. She learnt much about the rehoming process and worked with many species including mice, birds, bunnies, rats, cats, dogs, ferrets, alpacas, cows and horses. It was at the RSPCA that she found a desire to help people help animals.
Telesha and her cat Scar continue to work with under privileged pets, opening their home to foster cats and kittens. In 2021, after years of fostering, they had their first foster fail, an adult Persian x ragdoll named Abbie Cat, who Telesha has now adopted.
Outside of work, Telesha loves a nature walk looking for birds! She also enjoys a good book, brunch, shopping and LOVES Christmas!
